Fishing Report - Guatemala
Marlin and Dorado were the perfect matches to fish in June. Every day we have new adventures at Blue Bayou Lodge. Guatemala is the right choice!
As expected the marlin are over shadowing the sailfish bite. Both boats have been fishing hard these days. Sails Call & Sails Pitch have posted some impressive fishing reports. Many multiple marlin days.
We had some XL Mahi, over a dozen sailfish bites and over 5 blue marlin in the spread! Of which just 1 bit for us on the Sails Call, while Capt Hercules on the Sails Pitch got 4 bites!
Some regulars from Colorado came down for some June fly fishing action. Proven that Guatemala doesn't sleep from a sailfish perspective.
All of the action was just 12-15 miles! Top Day June 12th resulted in 6 for 8 bites on the fly and 1 mahi on the fly. 15 sailfish in the spread. June 13th we had 9 bites on the fly and just 2 releases! Tough bites, and lots of angler error.
Following days resulted in many more sailfish raised, but most were keying on the bait. The boat fishing conventional had no problem releasing 15 sailfish per boat.
Same story as weeks part with TONS of mahi in the spread. Actually better to be fishing with just teasers to aviod the little mahi from cleaning out the bait!
Early July starts another good amount of fishing days. More to come.
